Pat's heart has been in constant fluttering for several months. After months of Coumadin pills and several days of Lovenox injections in the abdomen, Pat was scheduled for Cardiac Ablasion. He had to arrive at the hospital today at 7am, procedure at 9am, and to a room at 12:30pm. The Cardiologist inserted a catheter in the vein in his right groin. The catheter goes to the heart and burns the part of the heart that is causing the fluttering. He had to lay flat on his back for 4hrs to prevent the incision site from opening and bleeding. The procedure was a success. He still has Afib, but that is controlled with medication.
I had to be his nurse today. Actually all I did was feed him while he was laying flat. He ate all his lunch and dinner.
Anyway, Pat is doing fine and will be home tomorrow. The doctor just wants to monitor his heart over night. This the first time Pat have ever been in the hospital, other than his birth. I felt bad leaving him tonight. At least he has a TV with a remote control, so he'll be ok!!

That's a good post mama... keep it up! Take a pic of Dad in the hospital so we can see :)
hello Jane, hope all is well with Pat, I didn't know that he was dealing with this. The hospital can be a scary place especially if one hasn't been there since birth! Please let him know we're thinking about him here in Cali.
Best regards,
seran
PS: I'm digging this blog thing as a way to keep in touch.
